This workshop will be open to any coaches, “wanna-be” performers’, or those just interested in learning about some show skills. The workshop is open to ages 10 and up!

5:45-6:00 pm Check-in

6:00-6:45 pm Off-Ice Meet & Greet Introduction 

6:45-7:00 pm Skates on 

7:00-7:45 pm On-Ice/edge & guiding exercises

7:45-8:30 pm On-Ice Audition review/process,  On-ice acting, tricks/moves 

8:30-9:15 pm Off-ice Pair Lift demonstration.       Q & A session topics- Travel on the road, media info and more

From the metro area, take 494 to get to Highway 61 and go south on 61. From 494 it's about 12 miles drive 61 south into Hastings, 21 blocks from the bridge-take a left on to Redwing Blvd/ HWY 316.  The ice arena is on the corner next to the Valley Chevrolet in Hastings.   

This workshop is for informational and educational purposes only. It will not guarantee you a position in an ice show, but it will inform you on how to prepare for a live audition.  

 
 

Audition Workshop Presenters

AMANDA TRUAX

Amanda Truax-has an extensive background in competitive dance & choreography.   She entertained audiences all over the globe for eight years skating professionally with Feld Entertainment-Disney on Ice.  While on tour she worked closely with the industries top choreographers, producers and performance directors.  Amanda was a performer, the tours line captain, Ballet and Edge Class Instructor with Disney on Ice.  Most recently Amanda worked with USFS-Stars on Ice as a coordinating choreographer for the Twin Cities market.   Amanda was also the choreographer for the USFS-Nationals Smuckers Skating Spectacular basic skills numbers which showcased over 100 of our local skaters at the Xcel Energy Center in 2016.   Amanda recently presented a choreography and style session for professional coaches at the ISI National Conference held in the Twin Cities May 2017.  Amanda also holds a business and dance degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She also owns and directs a successful skating school, River Blades Skating School in Hastings, MN where her competitive teams focus on theater style team production routines.  Amanda also coaches and choreographs for ISI & USFS skaters in the Twin Cities.  

DIMA BOYENKO

Dima is joining us all the way from Odessa, Ukraine.  Trained under the Soviet Russian Federation as an individual and pair skater.  Coached by Nina Mozer, Galina Zmievskaya, and Nicolaev Valentin.  Dima competed in the 1997 Junior World Championships in Canada with his pair partner Alyona Savchenko.  Master of Spot in Figure Skating and Physical Education from the Ukrainian National University of Sport and Physical Culture in Kiev, Ukraine.  Dima has been coaching singles and pair skating since 2006 and enjoys working with all skaters.  Dima has trained skaters in the Netherlands, Russia, Odessa Ukraine, and the U.S.A.  Dima has also performed in professional shows including Disney on Ice World Tour, Magic on Ice in Guam, and Winter Wonderland Show at Sea World Theme Park, Orlando, FL.  

 

STEVEN GRANT

Steven has been practicing the art of figure skating for the past 16 years at various clubs throughout the twin cities. His home club was the Woodbury Figure Skating Club where his love for the sport blossomed. Steven is a double gold medalist with USFS and has also passed his bronze medal in Ice dance. Steven has also competed on a national level in both synchro and theatre on ice.  He attended the school of St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists' where he learned about characterization and staging. He is currently a professional figure skater for Disney On Ice, and is traveling the world with its newest show 'Follow Your Heart,'  He has been to over 28 countries in the past 4 years with the company.  Some of the roles he has portrayed are Kristoff from 'FROZEN,' Young Simba from 'THE LION KING' and John Darling from 'PETER PAN.'  Steven plans to continue touring with Disney On Ice to share the love of skating and Disney to kids all around the world.
