Join us for a magical night on ice as local skaters perform beloved Disney tunes, celebrating 20 years of River Blades Skating School!
Amanda Truax, our founder and director, dreamed of a career with Disney on Ice when she was just 8 years old. She took her very first skating lesson at the Hastings Civic Arena shortly after it was built in the 1970s. After a successful competitive career as an amateur skater, Amanda began coaching figure skating right after high school and during college, training for years before auditioning—and landing—an 8-year career with Disney from 1997–2005.
Over the past 20 years, Amanda has built a thriving community of skaters, teaching thousands of hockey players and figure skaters, helping them build self-esteem and confidence, and mentoring hundreds of adult, junior, and high school instructors. Her lifelong dream now comes full circle as she brings local talent together to create an enchanting ice show. The arena will be transformed into a dazzling theater on ice, where our skaters bring your favorite Disney tunes to life in a magical, unforgettable performance.
